What We Stand For

Sustainability

For us, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword. It’s part of our day-to-day work—in the way we think, the way we work, and the way we drive things forward.

For us, this isn’t a one-time project or a ready-made solution. It is a long-term approach that is reflected in the operations of the entire company and all of its teams.

We know that not everything is perfect yet. That’s why we’re working even harder to find ways to do things better, more responsibly, and with an eye toward the future. Step by step, every day.

Education

We believe that a more sustainable approach begins with sharing knowledge. That is why we have long been dedicated to educating people about exotic fruits and vegetables, their origins, ripening, and uses.

We collaborate with universities—we share practical experience while also drawing on research. Together with the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague (VŠCHT), we have worked on extending the shelf life of fruit salads, we regularly organize lectures and field trips with the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague and Mendel University in Brno, and we are currently working with the Faculty of Tropical Agriculture at the Czech University of Life Sciences on the production of avocado oil.

We also host press days where journalists, industry professionals, and influencers get to experience exotic fruits firsthand and share their experiences in the media. We also raise awareness on social media. We share tips on how to eat, store, and use exotic fruits and vegetables without waste. We ripen our avocados and mangoes in-house to “ready-to-eat” quality, which is why we want everyone to know how to handle them properly and when to enjoy them at their peak ripeness.

No-Waste Approach

For us, “no waste” means thinking through the entire process—from growing and transportation to storage, and how fruits and vegetables are handled in stores and at home. We reduce waste at every step and share our expertise with our partners and customers.

We transport avocados by sea to allow them to ripen, which is better for the planet and more cost-effective. However, they don’t reach their ideal “Ready-To-Eat” ripeness until they’re here, in our domestic ripening chambers, which simulate natural ripening in the sun. This allows us to combine more sustainable logistics with high quality and great taste.

Since 2018, we have also been processing fruits that do not meet standard visual criteria. This led to the creation of the “Beze zbytku” line, which includes chutneys, marmalades, jams, pickled vegetables, and spirits. Through this, we demonstrate that quality and taste are not a matter of appearance.

Plant waste that can no longer be reused is sent to our partner biogas plant, Compag Mladá Boleslav. At the same time, we are looking for ways to promote more sustainable and regenerative approaches to growing exotic fruits and to contribute to changes that make sense in the long term.

Shelf Life

A longer shelf life means less waste. And that’s exactly what we focus on with ready-to-eat fruit.

For ready-to-eat avocados and mangoes, we use our own waxing line with our own unique formula. Thanks to this technology, we are able to extend their shelf life by up to 8 days while preserving their flavor and quality.

In practice, this means approximately 50% less waste and more than half as many price markdowns on ready-to-eat avocados and mangoes. A longer shelf life thus benefits not only our partners but also the entire supply chain—from the warehouse to the consumer.

Collaboration with NGOs

For us, sustainability doesn’t end at our company’s doorstep. We believe it’s meaningful wherever it can help the people and communities around us.

We partner with organizations that share our vision of the meaningful use of food and a responsible approach to the environment. In the past, for example, we partnered with Zachraň jídlo to work together on ways to reduce the waste of high-quality food.

We partner with the Dobrodílo sheltered workshop, supply the Sibrin Market farmers’ market, and support the Nehvizdy Zoo and other local organizations and associations that contribute to the development of communities in our area. Collaboration with the nonprofit sector is a natural part of how we operate.
